It will end when there is diplomacy, when there is dialogue, when there is negotiation. I think let's diagnose the problem right.  On Russia-Ukraine war, U.S. President Donald Trump (@POTUS) says, “It's a war that should have never happened. If the election weren't rigged in 2020, that war would have never happened. For four years, you know, from 2016 to 2020, I would talk to Putin, but it would have never happened…I stopped eight wars. Eight. Some of them would be thought of as much tougher to stop than this, and I got them stopped. But there's tremendous animosity between the two presidents, tremendous animosity. The public spoke, and the government listened. This is how democracy should function.  I thank every citizen who turned up at Lalbagh, under the leadership of 91-year-old Yellappa Reddy Sir, to oppose the 5% park diversion law.   I also commend the Chief Minister for respecting public opinion and deciding to withdraw this draconian law.  But the fight is not over.  Until the disastrous Tunnel Road project is officially dropped, neither Lalbagh nor the ancient Peninsular Gneiss Rock is safe.  Today, I argued before the Hon’ble High Court opposing the Tunnel Road project. The Court has directed the Geological Survey of India to place its report before it and fixed the next hearing for September 10. 

 At a press conference, BJP Spokesperson Pradeep Bhandari says, "... Students protested in Jharkhand, and their protest received support from across the country. However, as the investigation progresses, serious irregularities are emerging. The Jharkhand government reportedly handed the examination contract to a blacklisted company, TDPL. The company later outsourced the examination work to another company, without a formal agreement, tender or bidding process. The investigation also reveals that the financial dealings happened in cash rather than through formal banking transactions. These claims are reportedly part of the ongoing CID investigation..."  

 MP Shashi Tharoor says, "The Indus Waters Treaty was one that was offered by India to Pakistan in the early 1960s in a spirit of goodwill and harmony. In fact, those words occur in the preamble of the treaty; sadly, that goodwill has been repeatedly betrayed by the terrorist actions of the last four decades. Even though we have had terrorism and war inflicted on us, the treaty has remained in place, but this time our government has placed the treaty in abeyance, which means it is in effect suspended. Its operations are suspended until such time as we get satisfactory indication from Pakistan that they're prepared to conduct themselves in that spirit of goodwill that is provided for in the preamble of the treaty. We are very conscious that we have been a generous neighbour when it comes to the operation of the treaty. We are in an upper riparian state. We have given Pakistan very generously the waters that they are entitled to under the treaty, and we have not even used all the waters we are entitled to under the treaty. But the time for acting on the basis of goodwill unilaterally is frankly no longer with us.. 

 On 7.8 per cent GDP growth in first quarter, Economist Akash Jindal says, “Prime Minister Modi is absolutely right. Achieving 7.8 per cent GDP growth at this time is a very major achievement…Look at the circumstances we are in today. When did we achieve 7.8 per cent GDP growth? When the US-Iran war was going on. This is the GDP growth for the April-to-June quarter, when the US-Iran war was going on for all three months…Then there were supply-chain disruptions, which had a very major impact. We all know how the Strait of Hormuz was closed and what kind of losses the entire world, including India, suffered. So, in my view, 7.8 per cent is a very major achievement, especially when there is a significant global slowdown. An economy like the United States is deeply in debt, the performance of European economies is very weak, and China is also struggling. So, when did we achieve this 7.8 per cent? We achieved it when the world was grappling with recession and a slowdown.” 

 Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman posted on X, "Estimated growth of real GDP in Q1 of FY 2026–27 is 7.8%.  Nominal GDP in Q1 of FY 2026–27 is estimated to have grown by 10.3%, while Real GVA has recorded growth of 8.2%.  The credit for this strong performance goes to the people of India and their hard work.
